After the name of Errol Spence Jr. was withdrawn from the bout against Manny Pacquiao due to eye injury, the Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas got the chance of a lifetime to fight against the Pilipino boxer on 21st August. 

Initially, he was set to fight with Fabian Maidana to defend his WBA Super Welterweight Belt. But now, the boxer is shifted to the main event, where he will face off against the Pilipino boxer.

Who is Yordenis Ugas?

Yordenis Ugas Hernandez, a Cuban professional boxer, was born on 14th July 1986. He holds the WBA Super Welterweight title from January 2021, and previously he also had the WBA Regular title since 2020, the time till he was elevated to the Super Championship.

He was also the tough contender for the Welterweight title (WBC) back in the year 2019. Ugas has also won many gold medals, of which the World Championship gold medal, 2005 is globally acclaimed.

Presently, the record of the boxer stands as 26 wins, four losses, and zero draw matches. Out of 26 wins, the fighter has managed to stop 12 opponents, making the boxer’s current knock-out ratio 46%.

Despite four losses, the boxer was never stopped, and he fought a total of 196 rounds, making the pro-level fight last for 6.5 rounds on average. The last battle of the boxer was recorded on 6th Sept 2020 against Abel Ramos in California. Yordenis Ugas won the fight by split decision after the 12th round.

As per the sources, the next face-off showdown of the boxer is with Manny Pacquiao on 21st August 2021. The fight was earlier rescheduled between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. However, Errol didn’t make up the eye test, and hence he was replaced by Yordenis Ugas.

The fight will take place at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
