About Wise SMS Text Scam:

Various sources on the internet revealed that the message regarding Wise deducting 2,000 from the user account circulated since May 2022. The latest message informed the customers that their account would be deducted for 2,000 NSD on the 3rd (or) 6th May 2022.

A screenshot of the text message featured on the internet showed the text message was received from +61(448)342-733. The message included a link for wiseloginauthenticate.com and transferwiseauthenticatelogin.com, advising the users to click on the link to cancel the payment deduction.

How the Wise Text Message Scam works?

This text message is a Scam as the official website of Wise is wise.com. The wiseloginauthenticate.com and transferwiseauthenticatelogin.com are scam website that takes advantage of the wise brand. Irrespective of the website name included in the message, many ignorant users are unfamiliar with internet diddles. 

The scammers try to take advantage of such ignorant users by making them panic and creating an urgency to click on the link. Such scamming website links target the personal and payment information of the users. Additionally, clicking on such links also allows the website to install mini-apps, ads, and malware on the user’s device without authorization.

Avoiding Wise Text Message Scam:

Wise has provided help on avoiding phishing scams on their website at https://wise.com/help/articles/2932695/watch-out-for-phishing. Wise has advised customers to avoid clicking on any links received in messages, checking if the website URL is misspelled (or) similar to wise.com. 

Wise has cautioned its customers that fake websites may try to steal card information, payment details, and the identity of customers. Hence, it is advisable to ignore such messages. 

If the customers find a message including a different website URL (or) in case the customers believe that the message might be a missing attempt, they can contact wise customer support at https://wise.com/login/?redirectUrl=/help/contact.

However, @transferwisevictims is a Facebook group containing wise customers who faced Wise Text Message Scam and some type of fraud related to wise. Most of the complaints in this group showed that the customer transferred money from their account, but the beneficiary did not receive it.
