The employees of British Columbia LifeLabs have decided to initiate an organized protest against the employers on March 18, 2022, at 7 p.m. A Lifelabs Strike notice has been sent to the company on Tuesday by the union Representation of workers in this company.
This happened after getting no results during the negotiation meeting that was going on over the last three days. The demand of employees is simple and clear that they will not work overtime. Around 150 workers will join this work protest.
The payment is the main issue from the employees’ end. They want the company to take action to remove the wage-gap. However, the company says that all the monetary provisions have been followed before the employees’ present rejection of overtime work.
Brief About Lifelabs Strike –
The reason for this is that the company’s employees are paid (4.5 – 13.5)% less than the public health sector for the same work, the workers are doing their work without any contract, they demand fairness, whereas the company says the opposite.
This strike includes the courier and mailroom staff of LifeLabs. The president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union said that even after; the hard work of employees, the company was not ready to pay living wages to its staff. We tried to negotiate but couldn’t get any fruitful result. That’s why we have to go for Lifelabs Strike.
