Five types of FedEx Scams:

  • Delivery Failure and FedEx Status Scam have VIRUS file attachments. The message requests you to view the invoice by IMPORTING the attachment.
  • The ATM, Bank Draft, Check, and Contact Required Scams inform that your ATM Card or a check with a massive sum of money was undelivered. For redelivering, you need to pay $85.00(or more) and update your name, phone number and address on a website or via phone and email.

FedEx has its official website www.fedex.com/en-us/delivery-manager.html for this purpose. Hence, FedEx does not AUTHORIZE or ENDORSE third-party websites to take information for redelivering packages. Therefore, 

  • The email does not pertain to FedEx customer service, and the website links are unsecured. 
  • The Phone number is generally for fraudulent agencies who will ask you to verify credit card details used for recent online orders.

All five type of messages contains:

  • Random phases,
  • Grammatical errors, 
  • Incorrect spellings, 
  • Incorrect FedEx website URLs, 
  • Request for money, 
  • Request for personal and payment information, 
  • Creates a SENSE OF URGENCY, informing you that you have an ATM or a huge check undelivered.

Door Tag to determine FedEx Reschedule Scam:

Whenever FedEx cannot deliver your package, they leave a DOOR TAG. The door tag contains that information about FedEx’s attempt, information about your package, FedEx contact information and most importantly, a door tag NUMBER.

If you received a message about the failed attempt, you could check if FedEx places a door tag. If you do not find a door tag, the message is potentially a scam. 

The door tag informs that FedEx will make one more attempt to deliver your package the following day between 8 AM to 8 PM, tackling FedEx Reschedule Scam. In the event you are unavailable the following day:

  • Door Tag gives you an option to redirect your package to local Walgreens or Dollar stores. 
  • It also allows you to authorize FedEx to leave your package at your door without taking your signature.
