Having a clean and clutter-free house is what everyone wants to have. A clean house will make you feel much more comfortable and safe. But unfortunately not many people like to do what is needed to achieve a clean house -doing house-chores.

Being lazy to clean the house will make dust accumulate and mites breeding more susceptible in the area. This is very dangerous because an unclean house could not only make you feel uncomfortable but also threaten the health condition of everyone who lives in the house.

House should be a place where you feel most comfortable and safest. But this won’t be the case if you live in a dirty house. Here are some of the diseases that could attack you and your family due to an unclean and dirty house.

Diarrhea

One of the places that have the most potential to become a hotbed of disease is the kitchen area. Many cooking and eating utensils in kitchens are prone to containing E.coli, salmonella, and listeria bacteria. If ingested, these bacteria can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and even vomiting.

These three bacteria are often left in pans and spatulas that are not cleaned properly.  Not cleaning foods like vegetables and meat before cooking can also lead to the development of these bacteria. Thus why it is very important to ensure that you clean and sanitize your kitchen area daily –especially after you cook. The remnant of leftover food and dish splatter can be the reason why these bacteria are growing in your kitchen.

Poisoning

When was the last time you cleaned the refrigerator?  Can you make sure the food hasn’t passed its expiration date?  To ensure the cleanliness of your house, you can’t just inspect it from outside, but all areas inside your house –including the inside of your refrigerator.

Even if food is stored at low temperatures, bacteria from expired food can still grow and contaminate fresh food.  The impact of consuming contaminated food can trigger poisoning and serious infections that attack the immune system.  Worse, the bacteria that thrive in these dirty home conditions can cause chronic diseases such as dysentery, cholera, and kidney failure!

Respiratory Allergies

A dirty house is certainly full of dust. The air inside a dirty house will also be contaminated with harmful microorganisms that can cause allergies in the respiratory tract. The respiratory tract which is sensitive to dust attacks can immediately show several reactions such as sneezing, throat infection, and difficulty when breathing.

Skin Irritation

Dust that sticks to the upholstery such as mattresses, bed linen, and sofa fabrics can also be the reason for itching skin and eczema. If you neglect to keep your mattress clean –mites and bed bugs can interfere with your comfort and disturb you from having a good quality of sleep. To eradicate mites and ensure the cleanliness of your house upholstery, you need to wash everything at least once a week and sofas need to be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner regularly.

Dengue Fever

If not cleaned regularly, damp areas in a house –such as bathrooms, ornamental ponds, swimming pools, and aquariums can also be the cause of dangerous diseases. Water in dirty containers is very prone to become a breeding ground for the mosquito. Dengue fever is very dangerous, thus to prevent this, you need to clean the water container regularly. You can also place mosquito-repellent plants around the area.

Typhoid Fever

Typhoid fever is a dangerous disease caused by a bacterial infection that could happen due to dirty home conditions and poor sanitation. Symptoms of typhoid fever include loss of appetite, headache, and abdominal pain.

Stress

Not only a dirty house can affect your physical health, but it can also bring a negative impact on your psychological condition. A dirty and messy house will make it difficult for you to focus and be mindful of yourself.

You will be surrounded by clutter which will make you feel discomfort, you can also feel like you are suffocating with all of the things you need to do –but have no willpower to do so. For people who have a history of anxiety and depression, living in a dirty and unkempt house can be one of their mental issue triggers.

So that your house chore does not pile up, you should clean your house every day. Do not let the dirt and messiness accumulate as the days pass by. However, it is very understandable that not everyone can do the house-chore daily. Sometimes you may be busy with work or other activities, which makes it difficult for you to clean the house regularly.
